I have always loved the details of a wedding day, from the perfectly picked out veil or a passed down family heirloom that means so much, all of these items tell the story of the bride on her special day. These details are so important and styling them properly is not something that comes easy for everyone.
I’ve been asked several times at styled shoots or other workshops to help others with styling details. So I decided to share my tips and host my first workshop for photographers! The Venue at Murphy Lane was the perfect spot for this workshop with its bright white walls and its floor to ceiling windows spilling all the natural light we could handle into the room! A photographers dream!
We started the day with each attendee creating their own styling boards with canvas (see tutorial here), then we got right into the heart of styling.
Special shout out to Lisa Shay Photography for taking these awesome behind the scenes images for me!
I carry a styling kit to every wedding and I went over all my essential items as well as each lady received their own starting kits to take home with them!
We had two talented creatives share their knowledge with us. Amanda Duke of Duke & Co Media. gave everyone tips on how to get published and knowing your brand. Michelle Carlton of Just Styling went over what a stylist is and how to work with one. So much great information shared from these ladies!
Then we got to styling! We had so many beautiful items to play with thanks to all of the amazing vendors who lent us their items (see full list below)!
The most stunning rings were provided by Trumpet & Horn!
Flare Men’s Accessories sent us these handcrafted feather bowties.
My sweet friend Kimberly of KCreatives hand calligraphed these pieces for us. I had some fun with a double exposure with one and some flowers!
Carli of The Brumby Nest is so talented, check out these beautiful invitation suites. I was over the moon about the custom Murphy Lane one, I mean that barn was perfect!
The most delicate and intricate veil and garters were provided by Recherche Bridal.
Stunning florals by the talented ladies at The Funky Shack.
Heirloom vow books by Wedding Story Writer
Sweet stamp sets by Verde Studio (each attendee also got a set of these in their kits!)
Unique jewelry provided by Styled by Markie went perfectly with hair accessories by Hair Comes the Bride.
Last but not least.. the shoes!! These shoes by Bella Belle are a perfect addition to any bride’s wardrobe and the attendees were so excited to photograph them.
Thank you to each of you ladies who invested in yourselves and allowed me to show you a few tips and tricks to make your bride’s wedding day more memorable. I was so impressed with the images you delivered to me and I know the vendors will be too! Networking and collaborating are so much fun and I couldn’t have hand-picked a better group to be my firsts! The next workshop is already underway if you’d like more information go join the Facebook group here!
